Hat: Jannik Sinner will not return to Shanghai. Always embarrassed with the knee, the world's No.1 announced its package for the Chinese Masters 1000.

The Italian champion was to return to the competition in Shanghai from October 7 to 18. He'll have to wait until he gets back to the snowshoe.

Sinner has played since his win in Wimbledon in July. Since then, his knee injury has deprived him of the American tour, the US Open and, more recently, the Beijing tournament.

Sinner still braked by his knee

The 25-year-old confirmed his package in a message posted on Instagram on Saturday. "Unfortunately, I won't be able to play the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year as I was hoping," he wrote, while expressing regret for missing the Chinese appointment.

This absence therefore prolongs a period without competition that lasts from its creek in Wimbledon. Sinner had already given up defending his title in Beijing last week, explaining that his knee was not yet sufficiently restored to resume the competition.

Winner of the Shanghai Masters in 2024 after winning Novak Djokovic in the final, the Italian won't be able to defend his title this year. The tournament will include Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.
