This release comes as Portugal has just made an excellent sequence without its star. The defending champions beat Denmark 4-2 before dominant Norway 2-1. These two successes allowed them to retain their unfailing position in Group A4 and validate their qualification for the quarter finals of the League of Nations.
Despite these results, the Portuguese Federation does not wish to turn the page Ronaldo. Its president Pedro Proença sees the episode as a misunderstanding that needs to be addressed internally. He also recalls that the attacker remains selected on his sporting merits, with a historical status: 146 goals in 234 selections.
The next gathering could become decisive. Portugal will face Denmark again on 14 November before travelling to Wales three days later. Jorge Jesus hopes to count on Ronaldo, but the choice now belongs to the player.
